HCS

HCS Program HCS (Home and Community-Based Services) is a Medicaid waiver program provided by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services. It offers various services to IDD individuals and their families. This can include those individuals living in a family home, on their own, or in a group home setting. HCS services are designed to meet the needs of those individuals and their families. These services cover a wide range of needs and can range from attendant services to specialized therapies to minor home modifications. Services are personalized and created to give IDD individuals an opportunity to thrive in their community and participate in all possible aspects of their life and their families’ lives. To enter the HCS Program, an individual or guardian would need to contact their Texas Local Authority (LIDDA) or Managed Care Organization (MCO).

TXHML

Texas Home Living (TxHmL) is a Medicaid waiver program provided by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services. Similar to the HCS Program, it’s designed to provide essential services and meet the needs of those individuals and their families. Due to high demand, the stark reality is that the waiting list into the HCS program in Texas is long. Families and IDD individuals awaiting their full HCS enrollment slot can partake in some of the benefits of the state’s assistance program through the TXHML program. TXHML is available to individuals living in family homes or in their own home. Services can range from attendant services to specialized therapies to dental treatments. Families and Individuals enrolled in the TXHML program obtain services through their Texas Local Authority (LIDDA) or Managed Care Organization (MCO). The program is tailored to the individual and created to enhance quality of life.
